Dr. Cristina Marin

Certified by the Diplomate American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Marin is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Emory University and her specialization in gastroenterology at University of South Florida.

 

Dr. Enrico O. Souto

Enrico O. Souto, MD, is a distinguished gastroenterologist renowned for his expertise in advanced endoscopic techniques. With a specialization in non-invasive endoscopic procedures, Dr. Souto excels in diagnosing and treating a wide array of medical conditions. His proficiency includes endoscopic ultrasound, the intricate endoscopic resection of tumors, the removal of large and complex colonic polyps, and the innovative treatment of gastroparesis through G-POEM. Additionally, Dr. Souto is adept at performing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a critical procedure for diagnosing and treating conditions related to the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas.

Born into a family of esteemed surgeons, Dr. Souto was drawn to a career in medicine from an early age. His medical training fostered a deep-seated passion for surgical excellence combined with comprehensive patient care. This dual interest led him to specialize in gastroenterology, where he seamlessly blends surgical skill with clinical acumen. Dr. Souto is particularly gratified by his ability to leverage cutting-edge technological advancements in endoscopy to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatments, often resolving complex medical issues for his patients.

Dr. Souto is committed to handling intricate cases with diligence, ensuring that his patients are well-informed and their concerns thoroughly addressed. He maintains open channels of communication, valuing the trust placed in him and his team by his patients and referring physicians.

Prior to his current role at GastroMed, Dr. Souto served as the Director of Endoscopy and an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he contributed significantly to the field through both clinical practice and academic leadership.  He returns to serve the Miami area after a short tenure at the Memorial Healthcare System.
